Praia do Pêgo has been buzzing this summer with the Amorim Luxury group’s new project. The project signed by Vicent Van Duysen and its sustainable approach with wood and thatch – original to Comporta, the only one that could withstand winter by the sea – reflects the group’s ongoing quest for excellence. Not just the restaurant, which has rightly opted for a less fausty interior than the other projects, but the beach furniture – with an unusual menu and service, in terms of raising the bar – also designed by Van Duysen, is the hallmark of the elevated positioning that Amorim Luxury has become accustomed to. You can expect one of the most beautiful beaches on the Costa Azul as your address, with one of the most beautiful (if not the most beautiful) fresh fish monsters in Portugal, to try a King Crab Cocktail, Cod Carpaccio or Lobster Paella. Amongst many other suggestions by Chef Jerónimo Ferreira, there is also the debut of Baba de Tubarão, the signature dessert of the JNCQUOI brand, whose ingredients praise the rice paddies of Comporta. On my visit on a hot summer’s day, I stuck to the very fresh oysters and a Dom Rodrigo, but this is a restaurant that promises good getaways even after the summer when the beaches of Comporta become, in my opinion, even more desirable.
