Imagine um hotel inesperado num edifício de Lisboa, com mais de duzentos anos, pertencente a um grupo hoteleiro irreverente, como nenhum outro na cidade: o Independente – Hotels & Hostels. Os dois irmãos, Bernardo e Duarte D’Eça Leal, têm como missão surpreender a comunidade global de viajantes, com experiências inovadoras e criativas de hospitalidade e gastronomia, tanto para viajantes a solo, como casais, amigos ou famílias. Sejam eles portugueses ou estrangeiros, todos cabem num conceito onde a diversidade sempre foi uma das mais fortes inspirações do grupo.
Este novo hotel na Bica, em Lisboa, conta a história da grande ligação entre as culturas portuguesa e asiática, num sentido de rasgo com vinte e seis quartos minimalistas e do mais divertido que pode encontrar na cidade, já que não é um ‘lost in translastion’ mas quase. Um dos quartos têm duas camas de casal, e se a imaginação alarga ousadias, diria que pode ser perfeito para famílias grandes ou grupos de amigos. Smeg e simplicidade, cores improváveis e o mini bar mais original que vai encontrar em Portugal.
O restaurante Bic-San, com portas escancaradas para o cénico elevador da Bica, oferece pratos portugueses com presença japonesa, e sem ser um assalto à mão armada, destaco a atenção a carta de vinhos, já que este é um mais um projecto democrático do grupo Independente para todas as carteiras e gerações. Como se tudo isto não bastasse, os últimos andares do hotel têm ainda o conceito único no Mundo, um hotel, dentro de um hotel.
O Mateus Hotel, em parceria com a marca de vinhos Sogrape e elogiando uma das mais ousadas marcas de vinho portuguesas, conta com treze quartos, e acompanha o sentido de rasgo do grupo Independente, já que ousou fazer um bar na lindíssima escadaria, e ainda uma ‘Mateus Penthouse’. Neste ultimo andar do edifício com dois quartos, cozinha e zona de estar que também pode ser transformada em sala de jantar, pensada para receber muitos dos artistas da cidade (recomendo explorarem a agenda da música ao vivo) e sobretudo eventos privados.
A experiência é inovadora e como o toque de Midas que reluz tudo o que toca, esta é mais uma morada Independente que merece o meu elogio, e este especialmente por elevar também o cenário cultural de Lisboa. Divertido, leve e irreverente, mas o melhor de tudo, apesar de toques internacionais, neste caso o Japão, mas sempre integrando a história da cidade e sem ferir o ADN da nossa querida Lisboa.
Imagine an unexpected hotel in a Lisbon building over two hundred years old, belonging to an irreverent hotel group like no other in the city: Independente – Hotels & Hostels. The two brothers, Bernardo and Duarte D’Eça Leal, have made it their mission to surprise the global traveller community with innovative and creative hospitality and gastronomy experiences, whether for solo travellers, couples, friends or families. Whether Portuguese or foreign, everyone fits into a concept where diversity has always been one of the group’s strongest inspirations.
This new hotel in Lisbon’s Bica neighbourhood tells the story of the great connection between Portuguese and Asian cultures, in a rip-roaring sense, with twenty-six minimalist rooms and some of the most fun you’ll find in the city, since it’s not a ‘lost in translation’ but almost. One of the rooms has two double beds, and if your imagination runs wild, I’d say it could be perfect for large families or groups of friends. Smeg and simplicity, unlikely colours and the most original mini bar you’ll find in Portugal.
The Bic-San restaurant, with its doors wide open to the scenic Bica lift, offers Portuguese dishes with a Japanese presence, and without being an armed robbery, I would highlight the wine list, as this is yet another democratic project by the Independente group for all wallets and generations. As if all this wasn’t enough, the top floors of the hotel also have a unique concept in the world: a hotel within a hotel.
The Mateus Hotel, in partnership with the Sogrape wine brand and praising one of the most daring Portuguese wine brands, has thirteen rooms, and follows the Independente group’s sense of daring, as it dared to build a bar in the beautiful staircase, as well as a ‘Mateus Penthouse’. This is the top floor of the building with two bedrooms, a kitchen and a living area that can also be transformed into a dining room, designed to host many of the city’s artists (I recommend exploring the live music programme) and above all private events.
The experience is innovative and like the Midas touch that glitters everything it touches, this is yet another Independent address that deserves my praise, especially for elevating Lisbon’s cultural scene. Fun, light and irreverent, but best of all, despite the international touches, in this case Japan, but always integrating the city’s history and without harming the DNA of our beloved Lisbon.
