Aquando da sua abertura, tive o privilégio de jantar ao lado de um dos fundadores do Grupo Aethos, o assertivo suíço Benjamin Habbel, que tem grandes ambições para Portugal. O Aethos é apenas o primeiro hotel em território português e confirma tudo o que ele me disse no jantar de inauguração: O Aethos Ericeira dirige-se à “nova geração de viajantes de luxo. O Aethos é o espírito e o ideal partilhados que ligam a nossa comunidade global. Uma afinidade intangível que flui entre os viajantes de alma e de mundo que vão formando uma família global de exploradores conscientes. At its opening, I had the privilege of dining next to one of the founders of the Aethos Group, the assertive Swiss Benjamin Habbel, who has big ambitions for Portugal. Aethos is only the first hotel on Portuguese territory and confirms everything he told me at the opening dinner: Aethos Ericeira is aimed at the “new generation of luxury travellers. Aethos is the shared spirit and ideal that binds our global community together. An intangible affinity that flows between soul and world travellers forming a global family of conscious explorers. With the planet as our accomplice, we all follow the same path towards a common goal. Creating human empathy with nature as a flag, but also with the spaces we inhabit.”
With a relaxed pulse, the hotel enjoys a prime location in one of Portugal’s most charming coastal towns. The paradise perched on the cliffs overlooking Calada Beach breathes in the Atlantic Ocean. And being a UNESCO World Surfing Reserve, Ericeira is famous for its world-class surfing waves, golden beaches and vibrant local culture of history and simplicity.
O hotel é tão sublime que, a partir do Aethos, temos acesso direto à costa, o que nos permite explorar praias intocadas, assistir a pores-do-sol deslumbrantes e mergulhar na imensidão do mar. Por este motivo, o hotel respira um espaço individual para guardar pranchas e fatos de surf, bem como um surf concierge que indica os melhores spots de surf apenas com uma notificação no telemóvel. Estão também incluídas aulas de surf diárias, bem como aulas adicionais para famílias ou grupos com um instrutor privado, mediante reserva através de uma plataforma dedicada, perfeita para as gerações mais tecnológicas.
The hotel is so sublime that, from Aethos, we have direct access to the coast, allowing us to explore unspoilt beaches, watch stunning sunsets and immerse ourselves in the immensity of the sea. For this reason, the hotel breathes individual space to store surfboards and wetsuits, as well as a surf concierge who points out the best surf spots with just a notification on his mobile phone. Daily surf lessons are also included, as well as additional lessons for families or groups with a private instructor, upon booking through a dedicated platform, perfect for the more technological generations.
O Aethos Ericeira Hotel tem o privilégio de dispor de uma variedade de quartos e suites criadas para proporcionar uma experiência deslumbrante ao som do mar e diversificada, a pensar num fim de semana romântico, num eventos de amigos, ou de uma estadia em família. Os quartos apresentam uma atmosfera contemporânea com uma paleta de cores suaves inspirada nas paisagens costeiras. Os hóspedes podem esperar pormenores deliciosos, como um saco de tecido reciclado que podem levar no dia da partida, com a frase “Full of Experiences”, uma cama maravilhosamente confortável e varandas ou terraços privados que oferecem vistas panorâmicas para o Oceano Atlântico ou para os jardins do hotel. Para além da altamente recomendada ‘Ocean Suite’, ou quartos em camarata (estes mais para os surfistas de gema) há também quartos com jardim que, mesmo sem vista, estão entre os meus favoritos, se for em família.
Aethos Ericeira Hotel has the privilege of having a variety of rooms and suites created to provide a dazzling sea-sound and diverse experience for a romantic weekend, an event with friends, or a family stay. The rooms feature a contemporary aesthetic with a soft colour palette inspired by the surrounding coastal landscapes. Guests can expect delightful details such as a recycled cloth bag they can take away on the day of departure with the phrase “Full of Experiences”, a wonderful bed and private balconies or terraces offering panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean or the hotel’s landscaped gardens. In addition to the highly recommended ‘Ocean Suite’, or rooms in a dormitory (these are more for surfers) there are also rooms with a garden that, even without a view, are among my favorites if you’re with your family.
Para os dias de vento, o Grupo Aethos pensou em tudo e fez questão de colocar a piscina numa zona protegida da propriedade. Mas, imagine esta piscina com água salgada e também aquecida. É o paraíso da extensão Atlântica.
Com a missão de elevar o bem-estar físico e mental, a par dos 46 quartos e suites e da piscina de água salgada aquecida, há também um Spa com sauna, jacuzzi hammam, salas de tratamento e um ginásio com produtos biológicos da marca sueca Under Your Skin. Há também aulas de ioga e meditação e a disponibilidade de bicicletas para explorar a propriedade enquanto solta os cabelos ao vento.
For windy days, the Aethos Group has thought of everything and made sure to place the pool in a protected area of the property. But, imagine this pool with salt water and also heated. It’s paradise on the Atlantic extension.
With the mission of improving physical and mental well-being, in addition to the 46 rooms and suites and the heated saltwater pool, there is also a spa with sauna, Jacuzzi hammam, treatment rooms and a gym with organic products from the Swedish brand Under Your Skin. There are also yoga and meditation classes and bicycles are available to explore the property while you let your hair down in the wind.
Com um foco em almoços e jantares saudáveis, o restaurante do Aethos Ericeira, o ONDA, celebra ingredientes locais e saudáveis, incluindo marisco suculento e iguarias tradicionais. A experiência oceânica pode ser ainda vivida em privado, mediante reserva. As minhas sugestões vão para ‘A Bolhão Pato’ Amêijoas com alho e coentros, Polvo grelhado com tomate cereja assado, creme de espinafres e o deslumbrante Tagliatelle caseiro com amêijoas, ervas aromáticas e queijo parmesão.
With a focus on healthy lunches and dinners, Aethos Ericeira’s restaurant, ONDA, celebrates local and healthy ingredients, including succulent seafood and traditional delicacies. The oceanic experience can still be experienced privately, by reservation. My suggestions go to ‘A Bolhão Pato’ Clams with garlic and coriander, Grilled Octopus with roasted cherry tomatoes, spinach cream and the stunning homemade Tagliatelle with clams, herbs and Parmesan cheese.
Toda a experiência com o aroma do mar da Ericeira, famosa por algumas das melhores ondas do mundo e merecedora deste Hotel “Aethos”, que tem como missão a fusão com a natureza e uma libertação da velocidade dos dias da cidade. A derradeira missão é que os hóspedes encontrem o seu próprio santuário, numa fórmula simples: a ligação entre as pessoas – a equipa é incrivelmente atenciosa e gentil – e a ligação à natureza, que nos permite ter uma maior conexão com a nossa essência espiritual. The whole experience with the scent of the sea of Ericeira, famous for some of the best waves in the world and deserving of this “Aethos” Hotel, which has as its mission a fusion with nature and a release from the speed of city days. The ultimate mission is for guests to find their own sanctuary, in a simple formula: the connection between people – the staff are incredibly attentive and kind – and the connection to nature, which allows us to have a greater connection with our spiritual essence. With a commitment to sustainability and the benefits of Mother Nature, which governs everything and will always be superior to egocentric humanity, Aethos is undoubtedly the best hotel to experience Ericeira’s sea breeze.
