Sei bem que guardei a partilha do Hotel da Oliveira em Guimarães para o dia dez de Junho, mas foi propositado, já que o marco da nação assim o merecia.
De visita a Guimaraes, pelo fulgurante Sezim Music Series, a Casa da Oliveira Hool, respira num edifício histórico com projecto do sempre iluminado e coerente designer de interiores Paulo Lobo. E conhecendo a sua assinatura é fácil fazer a viagem ao seu estilo sempre pessoal e intrasmissível e sim, sou suspeita porque gosto muito do designer e da alma que desenha.
Situada no coração do centro histórico, a Casa da Oliveira Hool é abraçada por vários monumentos que contam a história da nação. Pulsando ao lado do imponente Castelo de Guimarães, uma fortaleza medieval que testemunhou os primórdios do reino e a Torre de Menagem que vigilante e silenciosa, parece segredar a nós viajantes, conquistas como viagens, numa memória intacta e que tanto representa a beleza da cidade de Guimarães.
Da casa onde respira o hotel selamos o aroma das oliveiras, que dão nome à casa. Uma dança harmoniosa de luz e sombras, onde o Sol brinca com os vitrais, projetando um caleidoscópio de cores nas paredes ancestrais. O som suave de uma fonte ao fundo com o canto dos pássaros, rege com maestria este edifício que nos convida à contemplação e ao orgulho da nossa história. E por isso ter também adorado o símbolo dos livros sem lombada espalhados pela casa. É que todos temos uma história. Histórias várias que num Mundo, cada vez mais Universal, muitas vezes já não precisam de nomes.
A experiência da Casa da Oliveira é a única, mas acontece também na sua extensão. A poucos passos, a Praça de Santiago revela-se como um cenário idílico, com as suas fachadas pitorescas e cafés acolhedores. Cada esquina de Guimarães oferece um selo cultural a colecionar das mais bonitas e bem preservadas cidades Portuguesas.
Em Guimarães, onde a história de Portugal começou, a Casa da Oliveira Hool é um dos tesouros no coração da cidade e da experiência cultural riquíssima que a rodeia e porque o melhor deixo sempre para o fim, não se espante com a simpatia dos Vimaranenses. Não apenas no hotel e na maneira como fui recebida, mas por toda a cidade, que parece ter uma das maiores qualidades de vida de Portugal.

I know I saved the sharing of the Hotel da Oliveira in Guimarães for the tenth of June, but it was on purpose, as the nation’s landmark deserved it.
Visiting Guimaraes for the glittering Sezim Music Series, the Casa da Oliveira Hool breathes life into a historic building designed by the always enlightened and coherent interior designer Paulo Lobo. Knowing his signature, it’s easy to take a trip to his always personal and unmissable style, and yes, I’m suspicious because I really like the designer and the soul he draws.
Located in the heart of the historic centre, Casa da Oliveira Hool is embraced by several monuments that tell the story of the nation. It stands next to the imposing Guimarães Castle, a medieval fortress that witnessed the beginnings of the kingdom, and the Torre de Menagem, which vigilantly and silently seems to whisper to us travellers about conquests like journeys, in an intact memory that represents so much of the beauty of the city of Guimarães.
From the house where the hotel breathes, we smell the olive trees that give the house its name. A harmonious dance of light and shadows, where the sun plays with the stained glass windows, projecting a kaleidoscope of colours onto the ancient walls. The soft sound of a fountain in the background, along with birdsong, masterfully governs this building that invites us to contemplate and be proud of our history. And that’s why I also loved the symbol of the spine-less books scattered around the house. Because we all have a story. Various stories that, in an increasingly universal world, often no longer need names.
The Casa da Oliveira experience is unique, but it also happens in its extension. A few steps away, Praça de Santiago reveals itself as an idyllic setting, with its picturesque façades and cosy cafés. Every corner of Guimarães offers a cultural stamp to collect from the most beautiful and well-preserved Portuguese cities.
In Guimarães, where the history of Portugal began, the Casa da Oliveira Hool is one of the treasures at the heart of the city and the rich cultural experience that surrounds it and because I always leave the best for last, don’t be surprised by the friendliness of the Vimaranenses. Not just at the hotel and the way I was greeted, but throughout the city, which seems to have one of the highest qualities of life in Portugal.
